Sponsorship - Everest 2009
Sonia
Linguiscience, specialized in scientific translation services, is proud to sponsor the Quebec Lung Association in connection with their involvement in Everest 2009.
The two courageous climbers taking part in the Everest 2009 expedition are Manuel Pizarro and André Rossin-Arthiat. For Manuel, this will be his second ascent towards the summit of Everest, having already accomplished this feat in May of 2007.
By doing so, the two climbers wish to honour the memory of Mr. Rossin-Arthiat’s father-in-law who died at the beginning of last summer, as a result of two respiratory diseases: emphysema and asbestosis. They also want to support research in children’s asthma as the number of young asthma sufferers has tripled in Quebec since 1980.
The Quebec Lung Association, for its part, is a leader and one of the most respected organizations in terms of scientific information, research, education, support and advocation dealing with pulmonary health issues. Furthermore, they have added to their cause any environmental element that is detrimental to respiratory health, whether it be wood heating, radon, Ambrosia (ragweed), engines that are left running while vehicles are parked, etc.
The president of Linguiscience, Sonia Gouin, has chosen to endorse this cause for two reasons: first, one of the climbers taking part in this expedition, Manuel Pizarro, is a long time friend and second, two of her three children suffer from asthma.
