Launched in 1953, International Translation Day is a relatively recent entry into the calendar of world events. This annual celebration is an opportunity to pay tribute to the work of translators who endeavor to make the world a slightly smaller place by lifting language barriers and allowing literary or business pieces alike to be enjoyed far more widely. The demand for translation services is thriving due to growing opportunities associated with the globalization of trade markets.
International Translation Day itself coincides with the feast day of St. Jerome, a Christian scholar and priest who was the first person to translate the Bible into Latin from the original Hebrew, making it accessible for the first time to a far wider audience.
To commemorate this important event, LinguiScience would like to wish its clients, suppliers and partners a Happy International Translation Day!
